Soul Mates

Danny and Sandy. David and Darlene. Luke and Laura. Chandler and Monica. All famous couples of the big screen and small, all soul mates to the end. Most of these couples endured hardships, but ultimately ended up together.

Danny and Sandy: Unlikely Soulmates?
Danny was a Greaser. Sandy was a cheerleader. But Danny didn't know Sandy was a cheerleader when they met. And Sandy didn't know Danny was a Greaser. It didn't matter. They had Summer Lovin'. But it turned colder, and that's when it ended. So Danny told her they'd still be friends. Then, lo and behold, they both ended up attending Rydell High. Sandy saw a side of Danny she really didn't care for because he treated her bad to save face in front of his friends. Greasers weren't supposed to want to have serious relationships with girls like Sandy. Other than treating her bad, Sandy still loved Danny, but his behavior baffled her. Throughout their senior year, they tried to work things out. In the end, Danny tried to be a jock to get Sandy's attention--he even lettered in a sport. And Sandy tried a slutty look so Danny could "protect his rep." Danny threw the sweater out and followed Sandy around like a puppy dog. They finally brought their true love out in the open. It was implied that they were soul mates and would live happily ever after, but Grease 2 didn't really mention it. We'll just assume that it worked out.

David and Darlene: Destined to Be?
David was Darlene's first boyfriend. He came from a rough home, and eventually Darlene's parents let David move in with their family. So, they lived together before they ever got married. Sort of. They managed to survive numerous breakups during high school and part of college, and then David got Darlene pregnant. Then they decided that they should get married, which they were destined to do eventually, whether Darlene was pregnant or not. Later when their baby was born, it almost died. But David and Darlene stayed together. It made them stronger. Why? Because even when they were apart, David and Darlene knew they were soul mates. After all, who else could stand to live in a house with Roseanne and come out of it with their sanity?

Luke and Laura: Still Soul Mates
Luke and Laura were in a soap opera--General Hospital. Now, when these soul mates met, the attraction was instant. Their love survived the mob (on numerous occasions), Luke being mayor of Port Charles, a divorce, each thinking the other was dead a couple of different times and other marriages during those times. Currently, Laura is presumed dead (again) but she's really not. Nobody knows that except the viewers though. Will Laura make a comeback? Who knows? But Luke now claims to be in love with Skye. Before he found out that Laura was dead, he had been looking for her. (Laura was supposedly in a mental institution, but had been kidnapped. She was in a catatonic state and couldn't help herself, so even though they were divorced and Luke was seeing Skye, he was compelled to help Laura. Somehow, Skye understood that Luke and Laura were soul mates and why Luke had to search for Laura. She even helped him through Laura's death by just being a good friend. Even in divorce and death, Luke and Laura's love is going strong.

Chandler and Monica/Ross and Rachel: Friends Forever (lol)
When you started watching Friends did you ever think Chandler would be Monica's soul mate? True, it was hinted at over the years, but the focus was always on Ross and Rachel. But when Monica was with Richard, everyone thought they would end up together. When that didn't happen, it was only a slight surprise that the writers hooked Monica up with Chandler.

Ross and Rachel....well, as much as they tried to deny it over the years (after the breakup) they were always connected. It's good that they ended up together, but they should have done it much, much sooner. But I digress....

If you are frustrated about not finding your soul mate, be patient. He or she is out there, and when the time is right, you'll meet.
